An original mystery from the golden age of detection, newly discovered and back in print for the first time in 100 years!
When the artist John Harrington and man-about-town Dick Starling join a fun treasure hunt, they expect an exciting evening, racing across rural Sussex. Yet the clues lead them to the Middle Bridge, where they come across local aristocrat Lord Courtland, dying from a stab wound to the chest. Thus begins an adventure set amongst the artists and aristocrats of the 1920s, one which threatens to expose not just the secrets of those embroiled in Courtland’s death, but also those of the police officers attempting to investigate the mystery.
J.B. Harris-Burland was a successful and prolific novelist of the early twentieth century, responsible for over thirty novels. Although Harris-Burland was best known for his fantasy stories, he wrote a number of mysteries and crime stories. His mystery classic The Middle Bridge Mystery was first published via newspaper serialisation in 1929, three years after his death. This edition represents the first time this work has been returned to print in almost a hundred years, making the writing of Harris-Burland available to a modern audience.
